A Youth Too Grown To Stay

Of all the love lost
It was her that it cost
That smile, those eyes
Oh how they lie
Time has pulled and pushed
Skin torn, bones bruised
Now standing as one does
Takes more than once was
The aches of breathing
of a beating
not of my heart
But the pulsing throb of a mind torn apart
Don't listen- there's no reason
The cries are too far away
A little girl stumbles
Damn this blunder
Of a youth too grown to stay
Never as she was
Cursed to grow
Take the toys
Remove her bows
Kindness didn't visit
but oh how jealousy did
Green as the grass her toes loved to tread
Now down the path of mediocracy- it's safety-
Then why this dread?
Who was this little soul before?
That laugh that voice
Plummeted into the future
without a choice
When did the evil cackle
crack the whip of shackles
of a youth too tired to say
Deep within a cavern
Farther than Saturn
My inner child finally sleeps
