What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient healing modality that uses universal life force to heal, de-stress, and relax anyone who uses it. The word Reiki comes from "rei" meaning universal, and "ki" meaning life force in Japanese. As a Reiki Practitioner I have been attuned to the ancient symbols that help strengthen the connection of the practitioner and person receiving Reiki. I have been attuned to Reiki healing energy by a Master Reiki Practitioner and I have practiced this alternative medicine technique on myself first and then onto others for years. Reiki is usually experienced as a "touch therapy" or "biofield therapy" but the kind I have been called to is energy field Reiki as I hardly ever touch the person. I scan about 6 inches over your body to sense your energy field and from there I can feel the imbalances and this is where I know Reiki will go. As a Master I have also been attuned to send distance Reiki which is where I meditate on your energy field from anywhere on the planet (if I am having a zoom call from a client in a different country) and they too can/will receive the benefits of Reiki. Reiki is a wonderful tool as an integrative approach to life and stress reduction therapy. Reiki energy flows where it is needed and one does not have to believe in it for it to work, as The Law of Conservation (first law of thermodynamics) confirms, energy is neither created nor destroyed and thus reiki simply flows where it is needed. As a practitioner channeling Reiki is not exhausting as it is not taking away anything from me, as a matter of fact, I too receive the healing as it flows through me. Some of those benefits of receiving/channeling Reiki are:

Decreased Blood Pressure

Decreased Anxiety

Decreased Pain

Decreased Stress\

Decrease Fatigue

Increased Relaxation

Better Sleep

Lowers Heart Rate

Balances the mind, body and soul

The experience of receiving Reiki is different per person. One person may feel tingling sensations, one person may feel warmth, some may fall asleep, and some even start to cry. I have used this modality on non-religious, spiritual, and religious people and the consensus so far is that they do feel something, and they usually admit to it being a wonderful enlightening experience. The beauty of it to me is that as children, and even as adults what is the first thing we do when we get hurt? For instance, if you fall and hurt your knee your first instinct is to grab your knee and to rock back and fourth. Without even noticing that you are putting your hands (huge energy centers) on the wounded area and it usually helps alleviate your pain. When we are sad what do we do or want? We want to be hugged or touched, there is power in this simple energy exchange. I have channeled Reiki to clear negative energy from homes and I have channeled Reiki to help animals, however I always ask before as it is an ethics violation to tap into someone's energy field without their permission or providing and unwanted service. I will verbally ask people, and for animals I make eye contact with them and then send them a little and if they get closer to me, it's a yes to continue and if they turn away from me I know they do not want it at that time and I stop. Some of my best experiences so far with Reiki has actually been with animals. For example, my friend's cat was in her last days and when I went to visit her, her cat always stayed close to me and chose to sit on my lap rather than my friends which is not usual. The cat would purr and knead into my stomach when I was channeling and when I intentionally stopped to see if she reacted, she immediately looked at me and nudge me to continue. See, animals are more sensitive to energy than humans and she knew right away that I am a Reiki practitioner by my energy and came to me for help. During my bachelors of science I wrote several articles on the effectiveness of this healing modality and I was pleasantly surprised with how my professors took the information, and it even lead me to giving a presentation on the subject in college. I will link a couple peer reviewed articles below if you, like me, like to do their own research.
